About us

Professor Judith Walls

is the Chair for Sustainability Management, Professor at the School of Management and Co-Director of the Institute for Economy and the Environment (IWÖ), and Delegate of Responsibility & Sustainability at the University of St. Gallen. 

Prof. Walls researches the intersection of business and environmental sustainability focusing on governance such as behavioural characteristics of boards and managers in the context of stakeholder and other institutional pressure on organizations. Her work extends into environmental governance of industries that rely directly affect land use such as the agriculture, mining, and trophy hunting. 

Prof. Walls has published in outlets such as Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Business Ethics, Business & Society, Organization & Environment, and the European Business Review, and won several prestigious awards for research and research grants.  

Prof. Walls is also the Past Chair of the Organizations and the Natural Environment (ONE) division at the Academy of Management serves on the Board of Reviewers for Journal of Business Venturing and Journal of Management.  

Prior to her academic career, Dr. Walls worked in investor relations consulting at Technimetrics/ Thomson Financial (now Thomson-Reuters) in Europe and Asia-Pacific. She has also volunteered extensively with conservation organizations in Namibia, Botswana, and Mongolia working on topics related to human-wildlife conflict at local community level. 


Zsuzsa Borsa

is a research and teaching associate and doctoral candidate at the Chair for Sustainability Management at the University of St. Gallen (HSG). In her research, she focuses on sustainability strategies in brand leadership.

She completed her master degrees in Sociology and Communication Science in Pécs, Hungary, followed by a CAS in Brand Leadership at the HWZ, Zürich and a certificate in Corporate Sustainability at NYU Stern School of Business. Prior to her PhD, she worked in the field of marketing, communication and branding, in her last position as Head of Marketing at Marché Switzerland.
